Find Your Area Module - Click here
This data module enables the users to select any Statistical Local Area (SLA)
or Local Government Area (LGA), or to type in a postcode to find
which SLA or LGA the postcode is in; and then produce data for
the chosen area(s). Data for multiple
indicators and multiple areas can be produced and exported as a CSV file.
Steps to Find Your Area
i) Choose State/Territory using the drop-down box
ii) a) Type in your postcode in the Search by Postcode box and click the Search button to find the relevant SLAs and LGAs; OR
b) Select the SLAs and/or LGAs of interest – see steps iii) and iv) below
iii) Choose an Area by selecting either SLAs or LGAs; or All to select both these options
iv) Under Choose from SLAs/LGAs/All select the SLAs and/or LGAs you wish to include by clicking on the area/s to highlight* and then selecting using the double arrow button [>>] to add
*To select more than one area, either hold down the Shift key to select a block of areas or the Control key to select areas individually
v) Choose a Topic at the top right of screen
vi) Under Choose Indicators select the indicators you wish to examine by clicking on the indicator/s to highlight* and then selecting using the double-arrow button [>>] to add

vii) The data based on your area and indicator selections includes the numerator, denominator and proportion; or number, standardised rate and ratio, as appropriate. In the bottom right corner of the module, select either:
a) Build Snapshot – to save an image of the data in PNG format;
b) Export to CSV – to convert data to a CSV file; or
c) Print – to print the data
viii) Use the double-arrow buttons [<<] to remove any Areas or Indicators from the select boxes or click the relevant Clear All button to start afresh
ix) To see the complete data for all areas and indicators, click on the Link to Data button in the bottom left corner of the module
Notes:
1) Some postcodes are split across several SLAs/LGAs – for a complete list of postcodes and the proportion of their population in SLAs and LGAs click here
2) The SLAs and LGAs are based on the boundaries as at 1 July 2006 (ABS ASGC)
