The Interactive Social Health Atlas software allows you to select data from a series of drop-down lists, firstly by topic (eg. demography & socioeconomic status, health status, etc) and then by indicator (for socioeconomic status, choose from eg. education participation, jobless families). Click on the 'Help' button within the interactive mapping view for further information on using this software.

Area Health Profile: A SHA of Australia, 2011

Region: All States/ Territories, Australia
Small area level: Statistical Local Area/ Local Government Area

This atlas differs from the other atlases on this website in that it presents all of the indicators for each area in a single view, using a spine chart.  In this way users can readily see how the selected area compares with the national average percentage or rate for each indicator.

Note that you must select an area (highlight it on the map) before the graph will show any data.  Then click on the arrow-head symbol adjacent to the topic of interest, to view the indicator(s) for that topic: alternatively, click on the ‘+’ symbol at the bottom of the Spine chart box to display all indicators within all topics.

You can swap between the map and a table of the areas by clicking on the ‘Table’ button: click again and the map is restored.  For further information see the Help file by clicking on the ‘Help’ button.  You can also view the videos linked from the home page.

Summary: Demography, Social Indicators, Screening services, Health status, Risk factor, MBS
