Presenting inequality data
On this site, inequalities’ data are displayed in three different ways: using graphs, maps
and tables.
Graphs show variations, for each indiator, by socioeconomic status. Data are shown in five groupings of areas (quintiles) each representing approximately one fifth or 20% of the population. The quintiles range from the 20% of the population in the least disadvanatged areas to the 20% in the most disadvantaged areas. The height of the bar for each quintile indicates the rate or per cent for the population usually resident in that quintile.
Tables are
available indicating the highest and lowest numbers and rates within a State
region for a target, with a comparator of the metropolitan area, the country or
the State.
Maps can be produced for
each target.
Correlations between the indicators and with the Index of Relative Socio-economic Disadvantage are also available.
