South Australia's Strategic Plan: How well is it addressing inequality in South Australia? The Strategic Plan (SASP) contains 98 targets ‘to benchmark or measure our progress over time’, and the Government has indicated that these will be assessed and published every two years. However, other than those targets specifically for the Aboriginal population, many do not directly address levels of inequality across the community. This web site provides an analysis of 29 targets (or supplementary measures) from the revised South Australia's Strategic Plan (January 2007), taking an inequality perspective. The intention in presenting the data in this way is to add another dimension to the information already available in the Plan. Included here are:
For each identified target (or supplementary measure) from South Australia's Strategic Plan, an analysis of inequality is shown as an 'Indicator measure'. As in many cases an exact data match with the target definition is not available, a 'proxy' measure is shown: a note draws attention to this. As time permits, and data become available, it is planned to add 'additional' measures which are considered useful in informing those addressing the target. Trend data are also displayed where possible, so that progress in addressing inequality can be monitored over time. For each target, data are presented for the total population, for the Aboriginal population, and for an Indigenous/ non-Indigenous comparison. The web site will be updated as data become available. |
